Trailer Warranty & Conditions
At Wags Gear we stock a range of trailers from various manufacturers. Warranty terms may vary depending on the brand and model supplied.
Most trailers sold by Wags Gear include either a 1 year or 2 year structural warranty, depending on the manufacturer and product specifications. The applicable warranty period will be confirmed at the time of purchase and may also be noted on your invoice.
Some trailer components may carry different warranty periods depending on the manufacturer.
Warranty Period
Warranty coverage may include the following depending on the trailer brand and model:
• Structural Components: up to 5 years
• Parts & Accessories: 1 year warranty
• Hot Dip Galvanised Components: covered against manufacturing defects under the applicable structural warranty period
Warranty coverage begins from the date of purchase or delivery.
What the Warranty Covers
The trailer warranty generally covers structural defects in materials or workmanship under normal use during the specified warranty period.
If a manufacturing fault occurs within the warranty period, the trailer may be repaired or parts replaced in accordance with the manufacturer’s warranty terms.
Warranty claims may require inspection and approval before repairs or replacement are carried out.
What Is Not Covered
Warranty does not cover issues caused by:
• overloading the trailer beyond its rated capacity
• improper use, misuse, or accidents
• lack of reasonable maintenance
• normal wear and tear
• rust, corrosion, or environmental damage
• damage caused by modifications or alterations
• damage caused by impact, accident, or improper loading
• repairs carried out by anyone other than Wags Gear or an authorised repairer
Warranty may also be void where the trailer or parts have been repaired, modified, or tampered with by unauthorised persons.
Hot Dip Galvanised Trailers – What’s Normal
Hot-dip galvanising is designed to provide long-term corrosion protection and durability, not cosmetic perfection. The galvanising process involves immersing steel in molten zinc, which can naturally create variations in appearance.
The following characteristics are normal and are not considered faults:
• uneven or varied zinc coating thickness
• zinc drips, runs, or build-up marks
• light surface oxidation (white residue), particularly in humid or coastal environments
• minor heat-related movement or slight warping of steel components
• grinding or tool marks where excess zinc has been removed
• small dents, marks, or surface ripples that may occur during transport or handling
These characteristics are a normal result of the galvanising process and do not affect the strength, durability, or warranty coverage of the trailer.
Coastal & Environmental Exposure
Trailers used in coastal, marine, or high-humidity environments may develop surface oxidation over time. This is a normal reaction of zinc when exposed to moisture and salt in the air.
Regular washing with fresh water and basic maintenance is recommended to help extend the life and appearance of the galvanised finish.
Surface oxidation or cosmetic changes caused by environmental exposure, salt air, or lack of maintenance are not considered manufacturing defects and are not covered under warranty.
Owner Responsibilities
Trailer owners are responsible for maintaining the trailer in accordance with normal operating practices. This includes:
• not exceeding the trailer’s rated load capacity
• regularly checking wheel bearings, tyres, lights, and fasteners
• ensuring the trailer is correctly loaded and balanced
• washing the trailer after exposure to salt water or coastal environments
• carrying out normal maintenance and servicing as required
Failure to maintain the trailer or using the trailer outside its intended purpose may void warranty coverage.
Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
